The beeping sound from the DVR or NVR indicates that specific alarms have been enabled and is accompanied by the internal buzzer sound of the recorder. You can easily stop the NVR beeping sound by following the steps provided.

How to troubleshoot the DVR, NVR beeping

If your DVR or NVR recorder is beeping randomly, it is likely due to the buzzer being enabled for some of the alarms. To stop the beeping sound from the NVR, you need to take quick action.

Start by checking the system log to identify the cause.

To do this, go to the NVR interface, move the mouse cursor to the bottom left and click the main menu button, then click Setup >> System >> Log >> Log Type ‘All’ >> Search.

This log search will show you what’s happening with your system, including errors.

Common Causes of NVR Buzzer Sound and other Alarms and How to Identify Them

The buzzer sound from the NVR can indicate one of the alarms triggered by events such as motion detection, PIR detection, intelligent sound detection, or AI detection. It might also be activated by camera video loss or hard drive error (enabled under Alarm >> Exception).

Resetting NVR Alarm Settings

It’s important to determine which event is triggering the buzzer so you can take action quickly. If you don’t know which event is causing the beeping, you can always reset the recorder’s alarm settings. 

To reset the alarm settings, go to the NVR interface, move the mouse cursor to the bottom left and click the main menu button, then click Menu >> Setup >> System >> Maintenance >> Load Defaults >> Select ‘Alarm’ only and click ‘Apply’. The NVR’s default settings don’t have a buzzer active.
