What sets a Camius 8 channel DVR recorder apart from a standard recorder?
The TRIVAULT4K184R2 is a hybrid recorder. It records 8 analog cameras using CVBS, AHD, HD-TVI, or HD-CVI signal types over coaxial BNC cable and simultaneously accepts up to 4 IP cameras over your local network. You do not need to replace existing coaxial wiring to add IP cameras. The recorder handles both signal types at the same time on the same unit.
The HDMI output delivers 4K resolution. The VGA output delivers 1080p for a second monitor. The Spot Out port delivers a separate 1080p feed. All three outputs operate simultaneously from the same unit.
Who buys an 8 channel DVR recorder?
Eight channels covers most small-to-mid installations. A convenience store with cameras at the entrance, parking lot, cash register, storage room, and rear exit uses 5 to 7 channels. An 8 channel recorder gives room for growth without replacing hardware. Warehouses, auto shops, restaurants, bars, churches, and rental properties with 4 to 8 camera positions are the primary buyers.
If your installation needs 9 or more cameras, the 16 channel DVR systems handle larger coverage without adding a second recorder. If you want cameras included in the purchase, see the 8 channel DVR camera systems kits.
What storage size is right?
Camius offers four storage configurations for this recorder. The no-HDD option is for buyers who already own a compatible SATA hard drive. The 3TB, 4TB, and 8TB options come with the drive pre-installed and formatted.
Recording triggers available on this DVR recorder
This recorder saves footage when triggered by scheduled time, continuous motion, AI person detection, AI vehicle detection, sound detection, video tampering detection, perimeter line crossing, and perimeter intrusion. Each detection event sends a push notification to the Camius mobile app.
Remote access
The Camius app on iOS and Android connects to the recorder over Wi-Fi or cellular. You also access it from a PC, Mac, or any web browser without purchasing extra software. Live view and playback both work remotely.
NDAA compliance
The TRIVAULT4K184R2 is NDAA Section 889 compliant. Schools, government facilities, and contractors who receive federal funding are required to use NDAA-compliant equipment. This recorder meets that requirement.
What cameras work with this recorder?
Any analog camera using CVBS, AHD, HD-TVI, or HD-CVI signal types connects via standard BNC coaxial cable. The Camius 4K analog cameras are fully compatible. For IP channels, cameras must be ONVIF-compliant. Unused analog channels can be converted to IP channels, allowing up to 12 total IP cameras when all 8 analog channels are switched to IP mode.
